Stayed during Trail Days 2018. Room was spacious for one person even thought there were two beds. It was also "Spotless". Towels and face cloths were big and fluffy. Room was quiet and perfectly cooled. Ralph and his family are gracious and welcoming. The breakfast part of B n B was at the Damascus Diner. A large and filling breakfast with a great amount of coffee. Also ate there for lunch and that was also surperb. Stayed for three days then left to hike home. I will be back next year!!!

Just got back from a birthday trip to Damascus and the Dragonfly Inn. We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality provided by Ralph and Patti. We stayed in the Virginia Suite and were impressed with its size and amenities. Big comfortable king bed, separate sitting area for my wife to read while I watched football on a mac daddy TV and plenty of room in the bathroom. Our room as well as the entire inn was decorated very attractively, was well maintained and was spotless. On top of the genuine and caring treatment we received, the highlight of our stay there was the expertly prepared and ample breakfasts. No stale danish and whole fruit here. Ralph really knows how to cook. Locally sourced fresh eggs, handmade biscuits with homemade condiments, bacon and sausage from nearby butchers and a breakfast parfait was to die for. When one local businessman asked where we were staying and we replied the Dragonfly he quipped, "Best breakfast in town." and indeed it is.
Over the years we have visited Damascus a half dozen times and love to hike the AT, bike the Virginia Creeper Trail and just take in the small town atmosphere. We have always enjoyed our visits but none more than this one and it's all because of Ralph and Patti at the Dragonfly Inn.

This review is overdue as we stayed at Dragonfly Inn back in May, but I find myself still thinking about the place. Ralph was an exceptional host and the breakfast was amazing. We ended up with a free upgrade to the suite because some other patrons decided to extend their stay in the room we had reserved. The suite was large, clean, and beautiful. I would recommend this place to anyone coming to Damascus to hike, bike, or just relax on a big front porch.

Loved this place! Ralph was a great host. We stayed in the Virginia Suite. It had a separate sitting area and felt like your own little apartment. It was very clean and well decorated. Super comfy! Breakfast was delicious. I loved that he gets his eggs and bacon (and as many items as possible) from local farmers.
We will be back if we are ever in Damascus again.

Everything you want in a great B&B visit! Friendly eager-to-please owners welcomed us into their beautiful old home and treated us with great hospitality and a delicious breakfast two days in a row. They could not have been more helpful. We very much enjoyed our stay and their small town taking in all the views on the trails. Can't wait to get the opportunity to go back again!

This is a fantastic little hideaway in Damascus, Va. Cozy atmosphere and within walking distance of the VA Creeper Trail and the Appalachian Trail. Cute house and the owner is over the top with the hospitality. Great porch for relaxing or reading too. Pet friendly as well. I didn't eat breakfast, but from some of the compliments in the guest book it must be out of this world!! You simply must put this place on your list if you're ever traveling through Damascus! 5☆ All the way around!

This place is a gem that made me and my friends feel like family. From the moment we arrived to the time we left, it was incredibly welcoming and put my mind at ease about choosing it as a place to stay. The room was immaculate and better than anything I envisioned on the drive to Damascus. Every single thing we expected from a bed and breakfast was met and those expectations were blown away by Ralph going above and beyond for us at every opportunity.
It is the kind of place that communities all over the world boast about having in their town. When I lived in Indianapolis, the town bragged about having a world famous steakhouse called St. Elmo's Steakhouse. People from all over the world share stories about the quality of steak and service beyond their wildest dreams. It does not matter who you meet, if they have been to Indy and eaten or heard of this steakhouse, odds are you will hear them raving about it. The city of Indianapolis has adopted this steakhouse as an unofficial representation of itself to the world. In the way that Indy has adopted St. Elmo's, it is only a matter of time before Damascus sees the Dragonfly Inn in a similar light.

Just a great place to stay in Damascus, VA. Very quaint, unique, very clean B&B. The owner, Ralph, was great to work with. It is one of the best maintained and nice B&B's in Damascus. Prices are very reasonable. The breakfast(s) were awesome! No way to go away hungry. From sausage, bacon, grits, eggs, biscuits, gravy, different flavored butters, preserves, red-eye gravy, fruit, muffins, casseroles, potatoes, juice, coffee ... and the homemade breakfast fruit parfaits! Located right in the middle of Main Street. My room was very spacious, nice bathroom. It has a unique and easy to spot white picket fence around the yard w/nice landscaping, flowers that welcome you in! Nice hardwood floors inside. I highly recommend the Dragonfly!

My two sisters and I stayed in the Maude room at the Dragonfly Inn. Loved the room and the entire house is very charming. We loved the comfortable feel of the furnishings and enjoyed the rocking chairs on the front porch several days. The food was delicious. Breakfast included fruit parfaits to die for. Would not only recommend this Bed & Breakfast, but hope to take my husband with me next year to enjoy the accommodations and food.

We stayed one night while riding the Virginia Creeper Trail and were happy we did. Ralph is a wonderful host and a very good chef. The rooms are quite spacious and very comfortable. One of the best B&Bs we have ever stayed at. We'll be back Ralph.

This is a home away from home for me. I was hiking the AT and stayed at Dragonfly 3 separate times. One time I brought a friend with me who also loved it and another time I brought my boyfriend. Ralph and Patti are amazing hosts and I felt very well taken cared of and loved having my own space. The rooms are clean and charming, the wrap around porch is amazing, and the breakfast is to die for. I am planning on returning with my mom and sister for a family weekend. I truly appreciate Ralph and Patti's hospitality and genuine friendship. If you come to Damascus you must stay here!

Amazing owners with the BEST breakfast I've ever had on the Trail! Each room is beautifully decorated in different fashions, which I greatly appreciate as it gives an incredible atmosphere! Very cozy, lots of coffee, beautiful furnishings all over the house. I feel like I walked into a mode home for a design magazine; purely beautiful! Wonderful dogs as well. If you want the best experience in Damascus for a true B&B, you've gotta stay with Ralph and Patti!

Love the Dragonfly Inn! Ralph and Patti, the owners, are the best host/hostess at any B&B at which we have ever stayed. My husband and I felt right at home and appreciated the laid back relaxing atmosphere there. The room was perfect and the breakfasts were over the top. Located right on the main downtown street with a beautiful yard, lots of flowers and a nice big front and side porch to enjoy it all. 5 stars +++++.

Wonderful, clean and hospitable. Owner is delightful to talk with and he puts together a mean breakfast. Very "homey" feel with antiques and three friendly house dogs. Good cup of coffee in the morning too. Nice large wrap around porch to lounge on. No complaints, only compliments. Thanks Ralph.

We went to Damascus to meet our son and his fiancé who are through hiking the AT. We needed a place to stay for one night in town because we didn't have a car. We thought the Dragonfly Inn looked inviting after seeing other through hikers on the front porch laughing and relaxing. We knew immediately after meeting Ralph we made the right decision. It was a fabulous. The rooms were very clean, decorated so sweet and with their own bathroom! Breakfast by Ralph was fantastic. The one night stay memories at the Dragonfly carried us through a week of hiking the AT. We would highly recommend the Dragonfly Inn.

What a treasure this place is! Warm rooms with lots of beautiful décor. The breakfasts were amazing and Ralph is a wonderful cook who makes sure you feel pampered while at the table and full when you leave the table. Breakfasts are better than home! We truly enjoyed our stay and feel we have made a friend in our host, Ralph. We will definitely put this place on your list of places worthy of a second visit - hopefully more!

Innkeeper was outstanding and helpful. The rates were very reasonable and we have stayed at approximately 250 inns and this was the best breakfast of them all! We would certainly recommend this inn.

I thru hiked in 2015 and wish I had been aware of this place! I stayed during 207 Trail days for 3 nights and I'll book here for every future visit to Damascus. The bed is super comfortable, the house is beautiful with lots of gorgeous wood trim and beautiful wood floors. A big front porch with rocking chairs makes it easy to relax and wave at people you know. Best thing about this place though are the owners. As a person who does not love B&Bs because sometimes they can be a little stuffy, I LOVE the relaxed and welcoming way of these owners. I felt like I was part of the family. They make a KILLER breakfast- and if you are hiking the trail you don't want to miss it. I would say that from my experience hiking from Georgia to Maine, this is simply the best breakfast on the trail. It has everything a body needs- carbs, calories, protein, fresh fruit. And Ralph is a professional in the kitchen so everything is served hot, delicious, and beautifully prepared. The house is right on the main drag, the trail goes right up the main drag, so its easy to get to. Great place for Creeper Trail people too. Cant say enough about this place and the owners. Thank you Ralph and Patti!

We stayed for two nights in this B&B. The rooms were very large and accommodating. We stayed in two different rooms; the first had a single queen bed and the second had two full beds. The bathrooms were on-suite and very clean and nice. The owner, a prior restaurant owner, has also opened a restaurant in Damascus about a block away. It is called the Damascus Diner. Instead of eating in the B&B, guests are directed to the restaurant for breakfast. All items on the menu are available and included. It was a very very good breakfast. We also ate at the diner for dinner. If you need to stay a night in Damascus, this is probably your best bet.
